Bishan Tuition Centres offers JC Chemistry Tuition programmes to help students expand their knowledge capacity of the various Chemistry concepts and develop the analytical skills required to handle tough questions at the A Level Chemistry examinations. H2 A Level Chemistry (9729) Syllabus
For A Level H2 Chemistry, students are required to attempt four papers – Papers 1, 2, 3 and 4.
Paper 1 – Multiple Choice
In Paper 1, students are required to complete 40 multiple choice questions (MCQs) within 1 hour. Thirty questions will be direct choice type and ten will be multiple completion type questions. Paper 1 carry 40 marks and 20% of the overall grade.
Paper 2 – Structured Questions Planning
In Paper 2, students must complete the structured, data-based questions and Planning segment within 2 hours. The data-based questions carry 15-20 marks. The Planning question carry 12 marks and require students to integrate knowledge from different chapters in the A Level Physics syllabus. Paper 2 carry 72 marks and 30% of the overall grade.
Paper 3 – Free Response Questions
In Paper 3, students are required to answer four out of five questions. The questions will integrate topics assessed in the syllabus. Paper 3 carry 80 marks and 35% of the overall grade.
Paper 4 – School-based Science Practical Assessment (SPA)
In Paper 4, students have to conduct a science experiment in school and apply three skills sets – Manipulation, measurement and observation (MMO), Presentation of data and observations (PDO) and Analysis, conclusions and evaluation (ACE). Paper 3 carry 40 marks and 15% of the overall grade.
Data booklet will be provided in the examination.
H1 A Level Chemistry (8872) Syllabus
For A Level H1 Chemistry, students are required to attempt two papers – Papers 1 and 2
Paper 1 – Multiple Choice
In Paper 1, students are required to complete 30 multiple choice questions (MCQs) within 50 minutes. 25 questions will be direct choice type and 5 are multiple completion type. Paper 1 carry 30 marks and 33% of the overall grade.
Paper 2 – Structured and Free Response Questions
In Paper 2, students must complete Section A and B within 2 hours. In Section A, there are structured questions and one or two data-based questions. The data-based questions require students to apply higher order thinking skills, such as handling, applying and evaluating information.
Section B requires students to choose two out of three 20-mark questions to answer. The questions require student to integrate knowledge from different chapters in the A Level H1 Chemistry syllabus. Paper 2 carry 80 marks and 67% of the overall grade.
