JC Economics Tuition
Bishan Tuition Centres and its featured centres offer region-based Econs Tuition classes that are specifically tailored to help JC students who are unfamiliar with the subject prepare effectively to score well in the ‘A’ Levels. Students will be going through discussions on Micro and Macroeconomics as well as pick up valuable skills to answer source based and essay questions from our dedicated tutors. They will be able to answer any question in the exams confidently and accurately.
The Economics tuition programmes are conducted by dedicated tutors who will ensure that students are exam-ready and proficient in writing. As the study of Economics at the O Level and A Level require students to tackle both case study and essay questions, the tuition programme is structured to equip students with the essential skills to apply Economics concepts to the issues stated in the questions. As the economics examination consist of 2 main components, the source based questions and essay writing, our tutors will be going through each question type separately to ensure that students are able to build up competency in the subject.

H2 A Level Economics
The A Level H2 Economics syllabus consists of the following themes: Market System, Market Failure and Government Intervention, National and International Economy. For A Level H2 Economics, students have to complete two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2.
Paper 1 – Case Study Questions (CSQs)
In Paper 1, students have to answer two sets of CSQs within 2 hour 15 minutes. first set of CSQ will be based on microeconomics. The second set is based on macroeconomics. The questions tested will comprise of data response type questions and higher order thinking questions. Each question set carry 30 marks. Paper 1 carry 40% of the overall grade.
Paper 2 – Essay Questions
For Paper 2, students have to answer 3 essay questions within 2 hour 15 minutes. Students have to answer at least one question each from Section A and B. The third question can be selected from either Section A or B. Section A will focus mainly on microeconomics. Section B will focus mainly on macroeconomics. Each essay question carry 25 marks. Paper 2 carry 60% of the overall grade.
H1 A Level Economics
For H1 Economics syllabus, the topics covered are based on the theme of Central Economic Problem, Markets and the National Economy. Students will examine the various economics issues and understand the applicability of concepts via the reference to real world case studies.
Case Study Questions (CSQs)
Students will have to answer 2 sets of CSQs in 3 hours. The questions will involve application of economic concepts, analysis and evaluation and solving economic problems.

Understand the key concepts of each topic
There are 2 main themes in economics, micro and macroeconomics. It is important that students are able to understand the main idea of each topic and apply these concepts when answering the various questions.
Keep an open mind
Economics is a broad subject and often times, there are many ways to approach a question, meaning there is no one right way to answer a question. A good start is to make sense of all the economic concepts available drawing links in between.
Practice drawing your graphs
Graphical analysis is part and parcel of economics, it is important that you practice drawing the graphs, especially the ones that are core to each topic. It is one thing to understand a graph but another to draw it under exam conditions.
