Bishan Tuition Centres and its featured centres offer region-based GP Tuition classes that are specifically designed to help JC students prepare and excel at the ‘A’ Levels. Students will be going through theme-based discussions as well as pick up valuable answering techniques under the guidance of our experienced tutors. This will give them the competency and confidence to answer any questions in the exams.
Objectives of GP Tuition
A Level General Paper is challenging subject for some students as it requires them to be well-informed in the local and international issues and to engage in discussions over various topics that can relate to recent or past events. As such, it is important that students adopt an inquisitive attitude towards various issues and attempt to delve into constructive debates in order to be familiar and proficient in this subject.
The objective of GP Tuition at Bishan Tuition Centres is to develop sensible minds and inquisitive learners. Learners who are able to take charge of their own learning and not just wait to be ‘spoon fed’ by teachers or tutors. We also aim to help students pick up GP specific skills that will allow them to answer any question effectively during the exams, this way they will not be thrown off by new or application questions.

We believe that it is important for students to be able to draw the links between the key points of themes and concepts taught. They will learn to express their ideas into words and to develop points/paragraphs in a logical and clear manner.

Our GP Tuition classes are structured such that paper 1 and paper 2 will be discussed separately. On top of that, we also employ a variety of teaching methods for both components to ensure that our students will be sufficiently prepared to answer any type of question during the GP examinations.
GP is can be broken down into various themes, our tutors will be going through the key points of each theme so that students will be able grasps them with ease.
Refine Writing skills
Students will be writing essays in preparation for paper 1 and after each essay is written, our tutors will be reviewing them with the student so they find out their gaps and learn from their mistakes.
Our tutors will also expose students to all the possible types of questions for paper 2 and guide students on the best way to answer each one of them.
A Level General Paper
For A Level General Paper, students are required to complete two papers: Paper 1 and 2.
Paper 1 – Essay
For Paper 1, students are to select one out of 12 questions and write an essay of about 500 to 800 words within 1 hour 30 minutes. The topics are issue-based and cover many areas, such as historical, economic, social and cultural. Paper 1 carry 50% of the overall grade.
It is important to note that the questions will be general and students have to apply their knowledge in the different disciplines to answer the question.
Paper 2 – Comprehension
For Paper 2, students are to complete the comprehension questions within 1 hour 30 minutes. There will be either one or two passages to read. Students will have to answer short questions, such as literal comprehension and inference, as well as summary writing and application question (AQ). Paper 2 carry 50% of the overall grade.
